Quick update

We found out that we got a place in the towers on the main base and we move in on December 10th. We should have internet shortly thereafter (YAY!). Regarding my other post if you have questions about Misawa AB, Japan rather than posting a comment (since I wouldn't know where to post a reply so that you could see it) go ahead and send me a message on my myspace. Mmmkay! Deuce!

Muahhahaha!

That's my evil laugh. I finally got the booth with the outlet! So hopefully that means I can spend more time trying to upload photos... lets see if this works!

Okay so one down! Hopefully I can get more up. Here is the view from our "indoor balcony" at the Hyatt. That down there is the restaurant and lobby, it was really cool.

Very nice place, for those of you reading my blog going to Misawa, hopefully you get to stay there too! Beds were great! We had a really good nights sleep, which we certainly needed!

Here is one of the famous beer vending machines, it was on our floor of the Haneda Excel hotel.

Okay some people may not be as amazed/amused as I was but look!

That area was the only place not fogged up! Because its heated!!! I think that is freaking awesome! The room at the Excel was small (as expected) but very, very nice. We didn't take a lot of pictures because of our camera batteries but as soon as I find/get some more you will have plenty of awesome Japanese stuff to look at. That room was so cool. On the nightstands were buttons that read "Room," "Ceiling," and "Foot." We were scared to push them because they didn't know what they did, finally we got brave and they were for the lights! lol I know that sounds lame but it was awesome.

Here's a picture of Sky's curry that we got from that place I was talking about in my last blog where you make your selection and put money in the machine and it gives you a ticket.

It was REALLY good. And I don't even like curry! lol Next time we see a restaurant like that (which honestly should be this weekend when we go off base again) I will take a picture of the machine and display and stuff.

I know you can't really see any of the shops or anything but this is inside the Haneda "airport." This is right before going out to the observation deck. I don't care what anyone says that is a mall, not an airport with a market place! lol

This was on the observation deck. As you can see it is a vending machine that dispenses hot food. Danielle and I are being dorks. :)

Here is a Japanese stop sign.

So you can't really see it but we thought it was funny. That big sign in the back says, "What are your plans for the holiday season?" and then there is a van, a big plus sign, a DRUM that says "ALCOHOL DRINK," a big equal sign, and then a big black coffin. What's funnier about that is when you first see it, since they're so spaced out, all you see walking in the gate is the big "What are your plans..." sign and a barrel that says "Alcohol drink." Anyway, I thought it was funny!

I'm assuming this is a restaurant/bar but I thought the sign was funny and cute.

It was closed when we went by so if we have the chance to get out this upcoming weekend we're going to go check it out.

This is the karaoke bar that we went to. We took this in the morning on Sunday so it was closed. Once again, if we get to get out this weekend I'll try and get a picture while its opened. The karaoke bars are so cool, I knew this prior to coming but you get your own personal room. So no one but the people you come with can hear if you suck! :p

This was right between Dacha and the karaoke bar. They are setting up for some sort of Christmas thing, when its done I'll take more. Those "trees" are made of bottles!

This is Dacha, again it was closed, again we will go back.

That's really it so far for pictures. But there will be much more to come, and if you read my blog and you're moving here and you want to know some thing in particular post a comment and let me know! Hope you enjoyed!

Oh... and one last one for your amusement.

Me being myself in my footie penguin pajamas and a bottle of Aquarius. :D

Ohayo gozaimahss!

Good morning! We are at the Cafe Mokoteki using the internet once again this morning. We still don't have a good enough connection for me to post pictures (I think, I'll try but I'm not sure) so for now I will just update you.

We got to Japan Thursday afternoon. We landed at the Narita airport in Tokyo and then had to take a bus over to the Haneda airport and stay overnight at the Haneda Excel. The shuttle cost us 6000 yen!!! Which is equivalent to like 60 dollars when the yen rate and the dollar are even! So that sort of sucked because we only pulled out 10,000 yen. But anyway. It was like an hour ride to the airport. So we got there and got over to our hotel and checked in. It was really pretty and everyone was so nice. I didn't get many pictures of the room because the camera was dying but I did get a few. I will post a separate blog with pictures if necessary. Anyway we were supposed to hang out with Gary and Danielle but Danielle had forgotten we had her cellphone number so they didn't want to head out and wander around Tokyo looking for us because that would be a big waste of time and money so they didn't end up coming out. We just went to sleep for a really long time.

In the morning we woke up about 0800 and went downstairs for the breakfast buffet. It was quite expensive but it was good. Then we went back upstairs and were trying to figure out what we would do because we had to check out of our room at 1100 and our flight out of Haneda wasn't until 1700. So I decided to boot up our dying laptop and Skype Danielle. I woke her up but she was really happy to hear from me and instantly got up and began to get ready so she could meet us at the Haneda airport. We had a ton of luggage so while we waited for her we decided to go check our baggage so we could move around easier. We found her fairly easily (thanks to Sky's ridiculously awesome vision and Danielle's insanely good hearing) and were able to hang out for quite a few hours wandering the Haneda "airport." I put "airport" in quotations because that place was a freaking mall! We have some pictures of that too. Seriously. The basement floor was the train station, then there was one floor of straight airport stuff and a half floor of airport stuff and the rest of the four and a half floors were mall and the "observation deck." It was insane. We had some curry at a really cool place that there are a lot of, we didn't get pictures of this particular one but I will post some later because I'm sure there's one around the area like it. The way it works is there is a case with all of the dishes along with prices and "item numbers" and a vending machine type thing next to it so you pick what you want and then you insert yen and hit the corresponding item number and it gives you tickets, you then walk inside and hand the tickets to the staff and they give you your food. It really saves time if you don't know Japanese very well.

So after we hung out with Danielle we left to go through security since we thought with the language barrier it would be difficult (it was a total breeze, by the way). So then we are hanging out at our gate and a bus pulls up. So, there was a bit of confusion. We spotted a guy who looked military related so Sky asked if we took the bus to the plane and he confirmed. We then hung out for a while and talked. We expressed concern about getting to the base because we had not heard from our sponsor for the entire time we had been traveling and he told us that he had some friends meeting him at the airport so if we needed he was sure they could give us a ride. It was really awesome because we had no idea what to do when we landed, the airport was so small and we got in so late that even if there was usually a DOD liaison there they were probably long gone by the time we got in. So as we waited for our luggage we looked out and notice there was no one there who could possibly be our sponsor but we also saw that the nice Airman was waiting for us with a couple other people. After we loaded up our insane amount of luggage we came out and were talking to them. They all had relatively small cars so they ended up having to go back to base first and then come back for us, and they did so, with another friend in tow (just in case). They helped us load all of our luggage and brought us to the Misawa Inn to get checked in, brought us over to our room, helped us unload, and then took us to this cafe to eat. It was incredibly nice of them.

Then the next day (yesterday) the same Airman that helped us out that we had met in the airport (who had given us his number the night before) took us for a tour around the base since we still hadn't heard from/gotten a hold of our sponsor. He showed us pretty much everything (except where Sky works because he isn't in the same career field so he didn't know) and even took us to the BX so we could pick up a few things. Then he came back and we made him watch Tropic Thunder because its hilarious and if you haven't seen it you better be running out the door to get it. Then we went to the Mexican restaurant on base and had dinner. We then headed back to our room and decided out in the parking lot that we should do something else (because I'm an old lady and was falling asleep). So we headed to Dachas which is the Russian owned bar right off base and hung out, played pool, and I had my first alcoholic beverage in a bar. It was a Mai Tai and it was really good. The bartender was so adorable and precise. We then went right across the street and sang karaoke (badly). But we had a blast. Then we went home and got through one and a half episodes of Family Guy before going to sleep. Oh! And I wore my AWESOME fleece penguin footy pajamas which were SO comfortable and VERY cute! lol. Then we woke up and came here and I wrote this novel for you to enjoy. So you better enjoy it. :)

Sooo... I will try and post tomorrow but if not I'm sure you could re read this one. :) I will post pictures when I can. We're probably going to walk off base today and take some pictures of the places we went last night because I forgot to put the card back in the camera. So check back later!

PS: I forgot where I was going to put it but that whole mess about our sponsor and everything, my advice to all of you military affiliated people is get a Recall Roster BEFORE you get to your next base so if for some reason someone isn't there to meet you, you can call them at home!!! Because a duty number on a weekend of and AFTER A HOLIDAY DOES YOU NO GOOD!!! :p

We are here safe and sound but still don't really have internet. I have lots of pictures to put up when we get a better and more steady connection. Bear with me a little longer and I promise that as soon as I can you will be flooded with fun stuff to read and look at!

Do it!

Name That Dog Breed

Name That Beer Label

Slow

Tonight was just kind of a slow lazy night. Christy and I watched "The Jacket" which was a pretty good movie. Rather jacked up, but good. I'm just hanging out now. Waiting for my sister to e-mail me her paper so I can give her feedback and looking at jackets.

Last night we had some people over and we were just hanging out in the garage, partying. Then for some reason I started feeling really sick so I called it a night pretty early. I was freezing, my skin seriously felt like ice to the touch. I am a little concerned about moving to Northern Japan since I'm such a pansy when it comes to temperature, but luckily my wonderful husband has already ordered me adult sized penguin footie pajamas. Interested in a pair of your own? They look amazing. I can't wait to try them on!

Well, that's about all for now. Check back later... you know you want to. :)

I just bought

Tropic Thunder. We will be watching it soon.

Also, it is my brother's birthday. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him!

Why don't you enjoy this video.

Gah!! Gomen!

I totally missed yesterday, but you know what! I was busy! lol The boys went to Loveland to snowboard and the girls and I went to Boulder to Pearl Street for some shopping/browsing. We went to the Lush store and I picked up a few emotibombs. I really wanted to buy a whole lot more but I controlled myself considering I didn't know if I would be able to use them while I was here and if now where I would put them and how they would travel depending on what I purchased so instead I decided Danielle and I will just need to make a trip to Tokyo when I'm ready to get a whole bunch of soaps, body butters, and massage bars.

Pearl street was really, really cool and they actually filmed part of Catch and Release there. Christy told me about that, and even though I've never seen that I thought that was a neat little piece of trivia. Pearl St also had a bunch of people up and down it who sang and/or played drums or guitar. That was really neat to watch and hear.
Here is a picture of CU Boulder which was SO nice.

Here is a really cool wolf statue thing.

That whole area is a total college town.

Today the girls and I might go to the Park Meadows mall and then just hang out and watch TV. So I need to get ready. Ja mata!

I don't actually have anything that interesting to say so enjoy this

Burritos

Mmmm... Christy and I just made the most yummy burritos ever. They were excellent.

Yesterday when Justin took me to go see some friends of mine at work he and Sky went over to the liquor store and when I got back in the truck I was sitting next to a "party bucket" of Jagermeister. It had a 1.75 liter bottle of Jager, a pump top for the bottle, and a pack of plastic shot cups and it all came in a festive Jagermeister bucket.

I went to see some friends of mine for a little while last night and when I came back to Justin and Christy's place Justin and Sky were pretty buzzed. It was quite amusing. We played a little poker and then Justin and Sky played some blackjack and I went to sleep. I slept until one! Which was awesome. And I've just been hanging out with Christy mostly and talking and playing with the dogs. So now we will just be hanging out. So deuce!

Enter Colorado, exit Florida

Just got in pretty recently. We had Justin pick us up from the airport and then we went to see some other friends at work before coming back to the apartment and getting Christy and then going to Chili's to get food.

Before we left Florida we went to Tarpon Springs and had lunch and went through this freaking awesome classic car showroom. We had lunch at this really cool place that had a patio RIGHT over the water.

Here's some pictures of our view from the restaurant

Here are some pictures from the classic car showroom thing.

Effen A-mazing.

About to leave

My in-laws house for St. Petersburg, which means we're saying goodbye to Sasha and Bella. =( My mother in law is going to stay the night with us and then we leave very early Sunday morning for Colorado. But, I must continue packing now. Just wanted to post a bit.

Friday, November 14, 2008

Awesome

So today Sky went and got a Florida drivers license and didn't even have a wait! Can you imagine? No wait at a DMV? I was floored. I slept in until about noon-thirty and then got up and showered. We tossed around the idea of going to Tarpon Springs but then we figured since it was on the way to St. Petersburg and we are going there tomorrow to stay with his Aunt and Uncle we would just go on the way.

So... and here's the exciting part. We stayed home and mom taught me how to batik! I made a butterfly! Mom and Sky keep telling me its great but they would tell me that if it was a stick figure. lol Whatever, I'm proud anyway. I had a lot of fun doing it. Mom is so fast doing hers I felt like such a dork taking forever. Granted, it was my first time and she has been doing it for a while, so there. lol

So after we did some artwork we went to Brian's Place which is a restaurant that actually hangs a lot of mom's artwork. It has such good food there and the guy who owns the place is like 30! But that's beside the point. While we were there after we finished our awesome entrees we went right around the side of the building and watched the shuttle launch. Unfortunately there was a thick build-up of clouds right in our view. After that we ordered dessert to go, we got a chocolate lava purse, a Bailey's flan, and a guava cheesecake. Mmmmm... de-li-cious!!! Now we are watching NCIS... on that note I bid you farewell. I may be unable to blog tomorrow but check back just in case!!

Blogs R Us

Today I helped Sky's mom get back on blogger. She had a log in and everything but she never used it. Sooo.... if you would like to check her out clicky.

We went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things we needed and when we came home Sky and his dad pulled out the Amps and jammed. That is actually when mom and I were doing our blogger stuff. We then had dinner and some really intense conversation about politics, the lack of separation of church and state, economics... etc. Honestly, I don't know where this passion actually stems from for me (not that I care) but I am so very passionate about equal rights for all, but especially about the whole gay marriage issue. Although, in my eyes that's common courtesy and logical. But, whatever.

Anyway, I will be watching CSI here shortly and then probably heading to bed. I started feeling very unpleasant after dinner... but CSI is more important than being comfortable. :) Oyasumi!

lolz!

The muffins are good. We made a gigantic one.

Well Sky and I woke up at like 1pm! With a small break from 9 to about 9:20 because mom took Bandit for a walk and Sasha was PISSED. I leaped out of bed (blind and half asleep) and bolted toward the front door because I thought she was dying. Seriously, she was like screaming/yelping. She was just sitting down by the door so while trying to figure out what was wrong with her and trying to calm her I leaned to pet her and saw mom and Bandit outside through the glass door. So we ended up bringing her into bed with us and she was still quietly whimpering. I think she's really attached to mom and Bandit, so I guess that's good.

Well then we had brunch when we finally got up. Mom made some really awesome breakfast quiche. It was amazing. I finally tried "nutella" which is a "creamy, hazelnut, chocolate spread" and it was really, really good. Then we made muffins and I annoyed Sky for about an hour. That has pretty much been my day so far. We're going to have turkey sandwiches for dinner and watch some TV.

I just made

Banana chocolate chip blueberry muffins! HA! I will enjoy them in about 20 minutes.

That is all.

I'm so lucky

We just had a wonderful dinner and just a wonderful time in general. Aunt C and Uncle L were a pleasure as always, and as I assumed Aunt S was just amazing! I love all of them so much. It was so much fun watching them all be silly together. I showed Aunt C and Aunt S "Language Fail" and they were just laughing their asses off. They laughed like Kimmie's sister when she laughed really hard! I know some of you who read this may not know what I am talking about but Kimmie does, and I think Danielle does too.

Anyway, it was a blast. Now I'm going to watch NCIS and House with my mother in law.

Sweet!

We are doing an early Thanksgiving type thing here at Sky's parents house and I'm so excited!!

Aunt S, Aunt C, and Uncle L just got over here and I love them so much!!! So I'm going to hang out with them, but I'll update later!

:D

They did it again!!! Except this time I wasn't in the middle!!! YAY!!! More progress!

Blah

I'm feeling slightly under the weather again today but I think it's pretty much all emotional. :( I'm such a girl.

Sky and his dad went out shooting. I was going to go with them but I'm feeling bad so I probably wouldn't have been much fun to be out and about so Sky's mom and I are just hanging out at home with the puppies cooking and doing artsy stuff.

Speaking of doggies... Bandit and Sasha have been sharing the couch! With a me in the middle but still! They're starting to accept each other into each of their packs! We're all one big happy pack! :)
Ah... progress. :D Bella still avoids Bandit a lot of the time but I'm hoping soon they will accept each other as well. The dogs all slept in the same room together last night, and even though there was a little barking at first they got over it rather quickly. Its a bittersweet feeling. Well there's my day so far. I need to help cook now. Deuce!

Hip Hip

HOORAY!!!!

Bandit and Sasha were playing!!! Like running around and chasing each other! Sasha went right up and licked Bandit's face too. It was too adorable. I wasn't able to get any pictures because I was afraid if I went in the house one of them would follow me and they would stop playing. So hopefully since this is already happening and its only the third day they will be sisters by the end of our visit.

The dogs might sleep with my in laws tonight just to see how they all react to being in the same room all night. Hopefully that works well. Anyway, I just wanted to post and be happy about it!

Saturday, November 8, 2008

Oh one more thing

Congratulations to my sister who won a very prestigious award for her work!! She deserves it for all of her hard work and dedication. I'm so proud of you, Desiree! I hope you get a raise! :p

Weeki Wachee Springs

So we decided to go out to the Weeki Wachee Springs where they do the mermaid show that my mother in law absolutely adores and it was so cool! They do this Little Mermaid show and its so neat to watch. We might go back and see the former mermaids when they do a show next week. My mother in law knows most of the former mermaids and some of the new ones and does some of her batiks of a few of them. If you would like to see her work you can check her out here.

So anyway, here are some of the pictures.

Sky as a pirate

The spring they preform in

Entrance to the Mermaid Theater

The little mermaid's sisters

The little mermaid

The mermaids together

The little mermaid and the prince

Chester the sea turtle who was the little mermaid's friend. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie did an episode of the Simple Life at Weeki Wachee and Nicole Richie played Chester.

The little mermaid and the wicked witch

The girls coming out of the castle

When the little mermaid got legs, and that sea turtle on the left hand side kept trying to sit on one of the mermaid's heads, it was quite amusing but I couldn't get a picture of it.

The battle between the prince and the sea witch

The prince and the little mermaid celebrating after he beat the witch

We couldn't have our flash on during the show so I couldn't get any pictures of the part "on land." Also they had these things right under the glass that blew a whole bunch of bubbles up between scenes and there was a baby sea turtle who happened to be swimming right in front of it and it was SO freaking funny to see it getting pushed up by the bubbles and trying to swim down. I couldn't get a picture of it because it happened so fast but that was the greatest accident of the show. :D lol So anyway other than feeling like crap that has been my day so far. I guess we're going to eat soon and probably watch TV and just relax. Ja mata!
